We all know that parents care for their children in different ways. We have known for many many years that the kind of care an infant receives can affect the child the rest of its life.

For example, we all know that an infant that is neglected or abused can have its physical growth, mental ability and emotions damaged for life.

But new research was presented at a conference of the Society for Neuroscience in October 1997.
