Lots to learn

Parents have choices about where and how their baby will be born. They must give a lot of thought to this and make the choice that they feel is best for them and their baby.

First, parents should learn as much as they can about all the choices. There are many different ways of caring for a mother and her baby during labour and birth.

We call birthing care that is better and healthier for mothers and babies "mother-friendly". Some birth places or settings are more mother-friendly than others are.
